„Random Association″ by Phil Stein (USA)
DigitalART, the cultural initiative of Videor Technical, invites to the opening
Rödermark, March 2007.
DigitalART – the Cultural Inititiative of Videor Technical – is inviting to the opening of „Random Association” on March 29 at 6.30 p.m.. The exhibition lasting until June 25 presents works of the US-American photo artist Phil Stin from Pennsylvania. The basic of his work is his own digital images he is working on with different Software programs. Afterwards they are printed with archival inks on high class papers (PH neutral and acid free) with a matte surface and high light resistance
The resulting surface is mounted on cotton rag board by acrylic matte medium and buffered glues before the boards are backed by wood frames for stability. Thus large collages of many layers to be extremely light and durable are generated. Stein dealt with classical drawing and painting skills at first surrounding the root rectangle grid systems e.g. the golden section. He wished to get the ability of moving beyond classicism:
My goal is to develop a look that accurately interpret and define the age of information and technology. You can say my works are a visual interpretation of our modern experience. Based on this intention I am experimenting and in this process there are originating the multiple collages with countless, completely unrelated imagery that work together.”
Phil Stein was born in 1966 in Allentown, Pennsylvania/USA (www.philstein.com) and is working as a professional advertising photographer. Since 2004 he is dealing with „digital art“ and is attending different exhbitions e.g. in Chicago, Philadelphia and London.
